CFI was incorporated and founded in 1962 by Enoch's father Dr. Rev. Manuel Fernando (known as the Billy Graham of India) Christ For India has two boards of directors; USA and India -The CSP program is administered by the staff in India overseen by CFI India board. In the USA the CSP program is administed by staff overseen by the USA board. One pastor describes this ministry as having the greatest missionary impact in India over the last 100 years. What is Christ for India Christ For India is a non- profit Christian organization Headquarted in Banglore India ( the silicone valley of India) CFI is responsible for an Orphanage, Many free night school and feeding programs as well as planting Churches, Gospel literature, Evangelistic Mass crusades, International Television and the Child Sponsorship Program. Christ For India has been involved in these ministries for well over 45 years. Can I write my sponsored child? When writing a letter to your child, please consider your child's environment and culture. Feel free to write about your family, friends and other interests. You can always enclose colorful postcards and photos that your sponsored child will treasure. Please do not enclose your monthly sponsorship gift or any cash with your correspondence with your child. Enoch and Rebekah make frequent trips to India to oversea the CSP program and to deliver the Ziploc bag program (Operation Zip loc bag) these bags are usually full of goodies a child can use - pencils, coloring books, toothbrush, small toys, candy etc. If you wish to send a small package they will hand deliver to your child. If sending something for us to send to your child please send only inexpensive items that can easily fit into a 6"x 9" envelope. Eg. photos, bookmarks, stickers, gum etc. Please make sure that your child's name and ID# are clearly marked on the bag you send your child. Will I hear from my sponsored child? Your sponsored child would love to hear from you and will write back via translators. Please be patient. It is common for a reply to take up to three to four months. Long distances, remote locations in far away villages, and inadequate postal services make for slow communication. A card for your child Once a year we will send you greeting cards for you to sign and return to us for delivery to your sponsored child. This is always a great surprise and big hit with the children. Can I donate additional funds for my sponsored child? At times you may learn of special needs your child may have that you can help with. The family may need a bicycle for transportation, Or a new roof for their house. If you wish to make an additional donation to your child, your donation will be used to by the item for your child. What will my monthly sponsorship provide? The Child sponsorship program is designed to help a child desperately in need. Please note that your gift generally helps an entire family in reality. The child's educational, medical, clothing and spiritual needs are taken care of. Will my child learn about God? We want to share the gospel with every child in the program - most programs are overseen by pastors and their wives who teach these children on a regular basis. We reach out to children of all faiths, however we honor our commitment to abide by local laws and customs. Christian teachings are vital to our sponsorship program. Will I get updates on my child's progress? Each year you will receive a progress report of your child's education and well being. Can I visit my child? You may visit your child as long as we have at least 4 months advance notice to make necessary arrangements for a meeting with your sponsored child How long will my sponsorship last? Your sponsorship may last several years depending on the needs of your sponsored child. Once your child is able to take care of their own needs, and no longer needs your help, you will be given the opportunity to sponsor different children. In certain circumstances your child may no longer be available for sponsorship - A Childs family moves away from the area etc. or the child may have finished school and is now self sufficient. Each child's situation is different and varies. No matter how long your sponsorship lasts, your gift of love to your sponsored child will change that child's life forever. Each month we will send you a letter along with a self addressed envelope thru which you can return your monthly sponsorship. At the end of the year you will receive a tax-deductible statement. Your statement will include your child's name, ID number and the amount of your contribution.
